Life is busy. Our time is limited. Our attention divided.
Yet there are things that add to life, that energize us, fill us up when we feel depleted, breathe life into our weary bodies, rejuvenate our tired souls.
And you're invited to make a kingdom impact that matters.
At Team Church, we have an amazing building and do incredible ministry, but we are constrained by our mortgage. We must refinance in a year, so what if we all joined together and were able to pay down enough to free up a few thousand dollars each month?
How much more could we reach people for Christ within our church, city, country and around the world if we weren't so bound by this debt we have?
We've set a God-sized goal to raise $500,000 through a short, six-month, debt-reduction campaign. How do we reach the goal?
$80,000 from the Year-End Gift (based on giving in the past)
$320,000 additional from the congregation
$100,000 if needed, will come from our saving (we will keep an emergency fund).
Of that total goal, as a church, we will tithe $50,000 to missions because…it matters. The remaining $450,000 will go toward debt reduction when we refinance.
So, what's your next step? Actually, there are three steps: Pray. Decide. Give.
Wondering how you will know if your pledge is what God expects of you? Spend time in prayer and ask the following questions. Give space for the Holy Spirit to speak to you and you will arrive at a specific amount to give as a one-time gift or as a six-month pledge. The amount you arrive at will almost always be larger than the reflex answer that first comes to you, since it will be a step of faith!
Will I give based on reason or revelation? Is my one gift and pledge just what I think I can give or is it what God wants to give through me if I am willing?
Does this amount really stretch my faith? God promises to meet all your needs as you give according to his leading. "You will have everything you need and plenty to share." (2 Corinthians 9:8)
Does my gift show that I really value what is most important now and in eternity over material possessions? "Tell them to use their money to do good... always being ready... By doing this they will store up real treasures as a good foundation for the future so that they may take hold of real life!" (1 Timothy 6:19)
Will my gift and sacrifice demonstrate my thankfulness to God for all He has done through Team Church that has changed my life and others' lives? "Now I want you to excel in the gracious ministry of giving." (2 Corinthians 8:7-8)
Does my gift represent a genuine sacrifice?
After spending time in prayer, decide what amount you will give to the It Matters debt-reduction fund as a one-time gift or regular installments over the next six months
Your contribution can be in the form of cash, stocks, gifts-in-kind, etc. Remember, these amounts are to be over and above what you normally give to Team Church. Don't rush your decision. Give yourself time to hear from God.
You will receive a pledge card that will be turned in, along with your first installment or one-time gift, Sunday, December 16 during morning services. You will want to be a part of this celebration, so mark your calendars now. Because it matters.
By working together as a team, we can make a huge impact. As you pray and decide, consider the following pledge amounts to see how consistent giving over a six-month period can equal a big step of faith!
Mark your calendars for the celebration service on Sunday, December 16. In the meantime, be praying and deciding.
