The Daniel Fast is a spiritual discipline designed to better connect us with God. It is a visible and tangible way of preparing oneself for a lifestyle change. Many of us need to rely on the power and strength of God to make changes in our mind, body and spirit.
We need to trust Him that a healthier lifestyle is best!
Beginning Sunday, August 8th at 6:00pm,everyone at Team Church
is challenged to observe a Daniel Fast for 14-days.
Together we will break the fast on Sunday, August 22nd during the Lifestyle Worship Concert & Celebration Cookout.
Will you take the challenge?
Click here to PLEDGE your participation in the Daniel Fast!
As participants, you will take 14-days to deepen your relationship with God and center yourselves on what God is going to do in your life. Be specific and intentional during prayer time. Spend time immersed in His word by scheduling devotional time every day.
We have provided two ways in which you can spend time studying and praying. You can use the daily devotional guide in our Daniel Fast guidebook, or you can follow the blog of Lead Pastor, Kenny Hibbard (kennyhibbard.com) for daily insights during the fast.
We have compiled several resources to make preparing for your fast as easy as possible. Take some time and click on the various links below. A good place to start is with the Daniel Fast guidebook, which includes both information on the fast and the daily devotional.
What is a Daniel Fast?
The concept of a Daniel Fast comes from Daniel 1:8-14: “But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.”
The background of the Daniel Fast is that Daniel and his three friends had been deported to Babylon when Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonians conquered Judah (2 Kings 24:13-14). Daniel and his three friends were put into the Babylonian court servant “training program.” Part of the program was learning Babylonian customs, beliefs, laws, and practices. The eating habits of the Babylonians were not in complete agreement with the Mosaic Law. As a result, Daniel asked if he and his three friends could be excused from eating the meat (which was likely sacrificed to Babylonian false gods and idols).
Today, a Daniel Fast is observed by eating only fruits and vegetables for a set amount of time, and abstaining from all meat products and by-products. Some people use a Daniel Fast as a dieting method. Others follow a Daniel Fast instead of fasting from food entirely.
How is Team Church observing the Daniel Fast?
There are many online resources available on the Daniel Fast, and several different ways to observe the fast. This is, in part, due to the lack of clarity in the Bible as to exactly what Daniel did during his fast. However, to keep it simple, we have provided basic guidelines in the Daniel Fast guidebook that the Team Church staff will follow - this is a great plan for you to follow as well!

The fast will require preparation, as most meals will be made from scratch. We have compiled a list of foods to include and avoid and sample recipes that you may find useful.
