Why Become a Member?

1. A Biblical Reason

Christ is committed to the church. Those committed to Christ should also be committed to the church. “Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.” (Ephesians 5:25)

2. A Cultural Reason

It is an antidote to our me-centric society. We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything: a job, a marriage, our country… This attitude has produced “consumer religion.” Becoming a member is an unselfish decision, and an opportunity to join a family of believers who are committed to loving one another in both hard times and good. Commitment always builds character.

3. A Practical Reason

Every team has a roster. Every school has an enrollment. Every business has a payroll. Every army has an enlistment. Even our Country has citizenship, takes a census and require voter registration. For all of these mentioned, to participate, enjoy benefits and to be counted, a commitment must be made.

4. A Personal Reason

It produces Spiritual growth. The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be in accountable relationships with other Christians for spiritual growth to happen best. The Bible describes commitment to the fellowship of local believers, the church, as the vehicle God has provided for ensuring our spiritual growth.
